The development is part of a regeneration project in Nottingham, and sees Nottingham University working with Smartklub and Blueprint, among others. ABC part-funded the project as well as collecting data to inform future developments with regards to energy systems integration.
This project is all about renewables and energy integration. There is a community-owned solar PV farm, battery storage and enabling infrastructure, which were installed at the construction stage, keeping the capital costs low. At a household level, Trent Basin residents were given the tools to help them look after their own energy usage. These range from individual circuit power and energy information to a smart heating system, which can all be interfaced via a smart speaker.
Live data was collected and analysed over one year from 20 homes based on four different methods of energy delivery.
